Green group and apostrophes

Ryan said, " I am thinking about where the apostrophe should go". "We have been learning about apostrophes and we learnt that we don't put apostrophes when there is a plural word", said Aron. Jee Sung said, " I think it's hard because there are some tricky one like 'you're' which is short for 'you are'."

Kakapo group plant sunflower seeds

On Monday, we got to plant sunflower seeds outside our ESOL room. First, we had to rip three seeds off a brown, hard sunflower head. Then we put the special seed raising mix into a pot. Next we put the seeds into our pots. But the seeds had to be spread out, because sunflowers need lots of room to grow. Last of all we watered our pots and left them in a warm place.

My diary

Today I went to chess competition.I played lots of games. It was really simple!First,I played with my friend Yoonseok then I virsed year 6 from another team. It was hard but I won!When it is breaktime I ate some SWEETS! I played another game and this time I lost. I almost won that game. I played 6 games and I won all the games!My score were 8 and I was third.I went home.

My exciting weekend

Saterday
On Saterday, I went to Science alive with Na-myoung and it was her birthday! I learnt about balancing.It was simple and I made lots of things! The first one that I made is elephant on the ball,the second one that I made is spining on the man and the third one that I made is man on the magnet. After I being spun in the gyroscope I felt dizzy.and I did some another things too!then I went home.

Sunday
On Sunday I went to Oragan concert. It wasn`t my concert.It was old man`s concert. The old man`s name is Christopher Herrick. He was good at piano.It took 1 hour and 30 minutes.When 30 minutes is gone I started to get bored so I fell. I was tired.He was going so fast like a racing car speed and his feet too! I went home.

My boring weekend

On Saterday I did not go anywhere!I played card game with my brother and my Dad.
The card game called Hula.Dad always won this game because he played 16~19 years! so saterday my brother was really really lucky!and he won! It was fun!I had some meat and it was really yummy!

Ryan - Today I have been learning about common nouns and proper nouns.
Aron - I have been learning and writing about nouns. We had a test about nouns.
Jee Sung - I have been learning about nouns - proper nouns and common nouns.
Moiz - I have been learning about proper nouns.

Going to Orana wildlife park

On Saterday I went to Orana wildlife park. It is not a park, it is a zoo. There was lots of animals! First,I rode a shuttle. I saw a egg on the ground! The ostritch laid it. I went near the lions. When I saw the lions, the lionesses were sleeping but lions were roaming around. I wanted to see lions eating. I went to see the kiwi but there was no kiwi. Instead,there was an owl.I saw owls flying!then I went out again then I went to reptile house. I saw only a wood there were all hiding![not one reptile]some reptiles were sleeping and some reptiles were not moving at all! When I was walking,I saw an a rope and some people were riding on it. I went on it too! When I ride on it, I screamed "yeoooo"because it was going too fast but I wasn`t afraid. I rode 20 times and then I climbed on a monkey bars[but the monkey bars looks like a Elephant.] I clinbed top of it. Dad took a photo of me. then my young brother found a wood pole. He tried to get to other end but everyone fell over. I went to saw how lions eat. When the zoo keeper throws a meat they roars. The roar kills my ears. The meat was gigantic. I went to see porcuppines and 1 meerkats.The merrkat were looking around. then I went home.

Going to cinema

On Hoilday I went to cineama.First 1 person came out and said "BORING."He was same as me.I was boring so I went to cineama.The title was THE NEW ADVENTURE OF AUNTIE MCDUFF`S MAGICAL TRUNK.There was pack of people in there.It was funny.Sometimes they do cool tricks and they hit each other!The people who are on the tage made cars,boat and rocket.I liked it because there was lots of actions.They worked as a team.At last 1 person stand up and do a handstand!everyone clapped and cheered.When the movie was finshed,I went out and said "BYE" to them then I went home.It was fun movie!

Going to ferrtmead Heritage park

On Saterday,my family went to ferrymead Heritage park. I brought my wallet too,inside there was 31 dollars! but I used them [ not all of my money]It looks like a museum but it is a park.I saw old house.I went in.I saw fire sparking. Mum took a photo of it. I went to the kitchen.There was two people having breakfast but now, they are finshed.I looked at the oven. It was really different to our oven. There was a fire. I was looking at but my younger brother went away because he was afraid of fires. I didn`t go away. I stared at it. The ferrymead Heritage park was really really hot. My younger brother found an a well. My younger brother is good at finding. I think when he grew up, he became a detective. He pushed the handle then the water came out of the tap!it was magic! After that, I went to cinema. I saw very old movie.It was really funny movie.We went to see the trains.First I saw old fire trucks.There was lots old fire trucks then I went to see the trains. I saw model trains moving!my brother grinned. I was amazed. I saw a tunnel. We rode a tram then we went to the shop because we were really tired and need a rest. We rest on a bench.I fell onto dad`s left leg. I rest 5 minutes then I went to cinema again.I bought some yummy SWEETS! we wallked until we arrived an a car. then I went home.

A letter to Miss Anthony

It is nearly holiday soon! and I would like to thank you for teaching and learning with
you and having a trip. It is such fun!making slide show is fun as well.Now,I like esol best because Esol dosen`t have any boring stuff! hope you have fun at hoilday.

Mathematics Learning - Term 2

For the first half of this term the students were working on learning the language of Geometry - position and orientation.

The Yellow, Red and Purple groups learnt to use prepositions accurately for example above, around, in, on, under, behind and in front.

These junior students are placing pictures on a scene by following instructions which include prepositions.



The Green and Blue groups learnt the language of mapping for example clockwise, anti-clockwise, left, right, North, South, West and East, whole, half and quarter turns.

After following oral instructions to reach their destination, these senior students are hunting for buried pirate treasure.



They then created maps and instructions of their own.

The Green and Blue groups are now learning about Measurement - capacity and weight. The students are applying their knowledge and vocabulary by baking for their visit to Mayfair Rest Home in Week 9.
